A more powerful ignore feature
Is there any way to have the ignore feature not only ignore the persons post, but to ignore threads started by that person. Say, for instance, not only do I want to ignore freddy, but I want to be able to ignore/not see his insane/psychotic/should be banned for his behavior/ type threads. Is there some way to turn on that feature?

yes and it was asked it the political forum could be removed from the new posts section , if you wanted not to see it
it has,nt ,,and has become a pain in the *** feature for non USA people using this forum, and TRYING TO WADE THRU THE GARBAGE, ,, as i have proved in less tha 12 hrs
if the "majoraty" of people want this ,,,well let it be ,,,,but I do,t think they do.
you want polatics? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you can have polatics ,

I did not want a political forum. But Scott made one so I have two choices. Go along with it, or find another forum. I didn't abuse the forum trying to get my way.
Since this is predominantly a U.S. board, American politics will probably be discussed in a political forum. While most of the posts do degenerate into name calling, before they do, sometimes some knowledge can be gained.

OK....the "View New Posts" link will now exclude the Politicos forum where as the "View Posts Last 48 Hours" will show everything.

thankyou , this should to some extent , sort the immediate problems out,
if this proves to work satisfactory ,over a period of time , whould you consider also doing this to the tech lounge ?
this would ensure that the site , looked respectable to new members , and assisted "tech" minded people , to help and to obtain help

Well why don't you start on the lounge as well then Freddy ? In fact any forums YOU don't like..
Am I missing something or did 'blackmail' just work ?

you want to call it "blackmail" do you? ,,it was said , that this feature was not available yet , as in this post http://forums.windrivers.com/showthread.php?t=65208 and many more,
it looks like the feature has now become available , and has bee implimented ,
this looks like a good feature , and will assist ANY tech minded person , to find or give help on the technical type forums easier than before ,
the comments ,to scott on the above post ,,where a suggestion , to clean up the tech and non tech side of this forum up ,,,hopefully once and for all ,
I am not saying "don,t" have a politico / lounge section , ,,but simply saying , that when you go to the louge or politico section , you are not discuussding computers , and the sections should be seperate,

No Politicos, no lounge.
In fact any forum you want to ignore just check the forum number from the links on the index page and create yourself a personalised View new posts shortcut.

[shakes his head] .. so look how simple it was if you'd just asked the question Freddy instead of 'flooding' the place
So Boss, Mr Windrivers Sir, please can we either go back to as it was, or go the 'whole hog' & just have 'view new posts' as technical only ?
(two being my prefered option & more logical)
The current situation now doesn't really make sense methinks ..

To be fair people have asked the question before and were beaten down for it as usual.
Still, flooding Politicos with inane threads isn't going to help the atmosphere either.

people have indead asked this question before ,
and confused seems to think that i have single handedly blackbailed , internet.com ,, into doing something ,,,,,as if .
i posted that garbage ,,,yes my words garbage , to show a flood of non technical posts ,,,and to anyone newly arriving at this site ,,,fresh from google ,,it was prob a shock,
although i did it on my own , it would have taken 5-6 people to threbble what i did in less than an hour ,,
there could be all sorts of suggestions ,inc a radio button that went to the lounge/politico section , and many other suggestions ,
confus-ed was having a "dig" at me ,for my earlier suggestion , but now can see the half beat settup we have , got (although a lot better than before) ,,
the quick witted political people ,will just say "make your own filter"
,,,,so that would be XX% of the members (who are surrfacing from the woodwork (sorry) ) to say ,,,thanks scott!!!!! have to make there own filter , to keep x% of themembers happy ,,????

Please don't give him any more "silly" ideas.
And, yeah, it sure does look that way to me, too. I guess that the next time freddy goes off the deep end, the whole site will change? Funny thing is, the temp measure looks to be a good temporary compromise. But I have to wonder how this one individual got away with these antics for a whole weekend.
