BackOrifice.B error after updating Spybot
Just updated Spybot on 4 of our network comps, scanned and got the following error:
"BackOrifice.B (Datei C:\WINDOWS\wininit.ini kann nicht geoffnet werden The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process)"
One comp had "Cabrotor" instead of BackOrifice in Spybot.
Used updated Symantec AV Corp to scan all in Safe Mode and it finds nothing. Google search only finds a bunch of other people with the same problem ... and no solution.
Anyone seen this ?

both of those are trojans - scan with a-squared free to confirm or deny presence of those trojans.

Thanks for the link noo, nice little proggy that.
Nothing showed up in the scan. Re-scanned with Spybot and nothing there either.
Strange ... guess it must have been a glitch in the Matrix.

It is supposedly a false positive. Update your spybot again. They released new sigs the day after. I experienced the same thing myself and spent a good portion of the morning tying to verify it the other day. I have now officially put spybot on my blacklist. This isn't the 1st time that has happened to me. I do realize that any program can be buggy, but it seems to me that the spybot folk aren't taking care of the quality of their sigs and are rushing the sigs out to the net w/o thoroughly testing them.
Shame on you Spybot!

Buggy spybot
What would you suggest as a good alternative? I also have adaware 6 pro on my home box but find it does miss a few things.
I've liked Spybot for its ease of use and speed of operation, especially good for customers machines.

I like Spyware Blaster (prevents initial installation of crapware), but a-squared looks like a good one too.

Downloaded spyware blaster, looks good for prevention but doesnt seem to have a scan function so not so good for removal.

It happenned to me too and even after I got the latest Spybot updates,
"BackOrifice.B (Datei D:\WINDOWS\wininit.ini kann nicht geoffnet werden The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process)"
"BackOrifice.B (Datei D:\WINDOWS\win.ini kann nicht geoffnet werden The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process)"
I scanned with NOD32 and NAV, but no virus.
