wininit.exe
About a week ago, NAV detected a virus on one of my pc's - I cleaned it, removed the registry entries, and checked the sys files.
This evening, I boot the pc, and as it runs the win command to start windows, I get the message:
c:\windows\wininit.exe
d:\ efghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
Hit any key to continue.
I hit any key, and the pc shuts down.
I have booted to command, and tried to remove the wininit.exe file (I had removed it during the virus clean up) and it can't be found; I have checked the sys files (via DOS edit)and can't find any reference. I finally restored the registry (via scanreg /restore) and that didn't help either. Is there anything else I could try???
I was planning to build and install a Red Hat 7.1 DHCP gateway server at the weekend, and dont really want to give that up to format and reinstall this 98 box.
Any help would be appreciated.
