Westell does not supply modem drivers to end users. If the modem is conected to your computer via ethernet, you do not need a driver, just the PPPoE software. There are many versions, however my recommendation would be RASPPPOE, which is available here. If the modem is connected to your computer via usb, you will need a driver, which should be available from your isp/dsl provider.

My goodness, where have my manners gone - that's twice today I've forgotten to welcome a new member. Apologies all around.

If this is the internal ones included with the Compaqs, go to their website and look up your specific model number. You can download the drivers direct from there. Or find your recovery CD's.

Welcome to windrivers snake100. You need to unzip the file you downloaded to a folder, then point the install driver wizard to that folder.

I'm trying to install a Verizon DSL provided Westell 2200, A90-220015-04, in a desktop and wirless my laptop (that originally has the DSL modem) and was just wondering if you applied the responses and had things working. I ask because the link to the driver is for a 2100, and the one you list is a 2200 (the Westell site says to contact the vendor for 2200 support), and the document link is for a CD that is not provided with a 2200.
    thanks

Welcome to windrivers jjg3. Can you elaborate on what you are trying to do, i.e., how are you trying to connect each computer (usb, ethernet, wireless)? Also, what version of windows. If you trying to connect via wireless, you will need to buy a wireless router. The dsl modem would be connected to the router (which would handle the pppoe) and no drivers would be necessary.

hudsonsmith, thanks for the quick reply. The desktop is Win98 (P3, 455mhz) and the laptop is WinXP. In the end, I'd like the desktop (in the basement) to be wired to the router (with the Verizon DSL-Westell 2200) and the laptop (upstairs) to be wireless. The laptop currently (working fine) has the DSL modem wired in thru USB as the machine would not recognize the modem thru the Ethernet port (and there is no driver CD provided with the Verizon DSL modem package, only the Verizon install CD). As I mentioned in the first post, the suggestions refer to the incorrect modem (2100) when the original post asked about a 2200, and that's why I was asking if everything worked as the Wetsell site makes a pretty firm differentiation between the two series. Again thanks for the very quick response and taking time to assist.

The original post asked about a 2100, and the links refer to that model. In any case, you will not need any drivers for what you want to do. Drivers are only required for usb connections - ethernet connections use no drivers.

As I said above, you will need to buy a 4-port wireless router (linksys, dlink, etc.), as well as a wireless card for the laptop if it does not have wireless built-in. You would 1) connect the phone line to the westell modem; 2) connect the modem to the router via ethernet; 3) connect the desktop to the router via ethernet. The router configuration will allow you to enter the login information for verizon. The router would assign ip addresses to your computers automatically.
