HL 1 Story?
I never finished more than a level or so of the original HL game before I got bored with it. So whats the story behind it so I can start making sense of HL2

Gordon was working on some bizarre experiment, it went haywire in a resonance cascade, and all these wierd creatures started appearing and attacking. The army was went in to take out anything and everything. Gordon ends up fighting his way to a teleportation chamber where a scientist teleports him to the homeworld of the creatures invading earth. He runs through that world for awhile and eventually discoveres the overlord of that world. After killing the overlord, gordon finds himself on a train (like the beginning of the game) with G-man who informs him that he was using Gordon to kill the alien overlord and now he has two choices. Help G-man rule the creatures or die. What the hell has happened between then and the start of hl2 is beyond me.
General Darksteel, fascist dictator, socially inept and clueless demagouge, and one man army of the L.U.R.K.
