Fancy dress party advice!
Me and the wife have just received an invite to a fancy dress party in a couple of weeks. It's to be based on the swinging sixties! Now all weekend we have been out looking for costumes, been to fancy dress hire shops, visited charity shops, searched the internet and are still no closer to an "original" idea than we were 3 days ago. Every other person who is going seems to be going in flares and a big collared shirt, (men), and Mary Quant lookalikes (ladies). How original, NOT.
Please please help me come up with something original, easy to make (or buy), or whatever because it's driving me mad now. If I get some great ideas then I PROMISE to post a picture
We're in your hands!
There's no panic like the panic you momentarily feel when you've got
your hand or head stuck in something

Nehru jackets?
Also, check out the movie "Down with Love" (they've been showing it on cable here) - costume is all period and might give you some ideas.

WOW, both ideas so far are fantastic.
1. The England player from the 66 world cup squad would be easy to make, just need a 66 shirt and an Alan Ball wig, maybe a world cup as a prop.
2. The Astronaut is a killer idea. If I can find one cheaply I could spend all night walking really slowly and pretending not to be able to open my face mask etc.
Cheers so far, keep em coning!

not being able to open your face mask could hinder drinking.
