XP Media Center?
So what exactly is it? Is it built on Home or Pro or somewhere in between?
Pros/Cons?

My machine is a HP Media Center that came loaded with XP Media Center. It's originally based on XP Pro with a somewhat buggy extended media player. There are functions for plugging your machine into cable or satellite to watch TV complete with TV listings, hooking up an antenna to listen to local broadcast radio, play slideshows, play DVD's, etc. I have most of mine disabled from lack of use. It's not really any better that just plain XP Pro with Media Player 10.0 installed. It has a fancier look and graphics that takes much longer to load than media player. Something I found interesting is when I first got the machine, the splash screen would say Windows XP Professional and since installing SP2 it now only ways Windows XP. I have read they are coming out with a new and improved version of the Media Center OS. I guess time will tell on that.

If where u live EPG (electronic program guide) works, then its great for recording from TV, u can set it to record in many formats. I would get one if EPG was supported here in the Gulf.
