Persistent Folders on Desktop
I am trying to clean up and gain space on a friends computer. As part of this I was trying to remove a couple of folders on the desktop. None of the folders show anything in them (I have view hidden files on) but when I try and delet I get an explorer error which will not clear and have to reboot. The same thing happens when I try this in safe mode. Any suggestions?

Folders are just labeled new folder, newfolder1 and newfolder2 no indication they are virus or spyware generated.

Well folders ordinarily dont create themselves
Time for some online scanning
www.pandasoftware.com/activescan
www.trendmicro.com
Then off to
www.cnet.com/downloads
and get spybot and adaware

how about deleting them from c:\windows\desktop or wherever they might be thru explorer rather then a right click on the desktop.
Or thru explorer try not to right click, find the folder from explorer or My Computer and highlite it and click delete in the toolbar.
Maybe the problem is being caused by a rightclick, and if you can jot down that error...
