Resolved [RESOLVED] Windows 98 not shutting down

The computer we use at my church to display PowerPoint choruses does not shut down properly. When you attempt to shut down, the GUI disappears and the screen fills with periods in VGA text mode. It is running Windows 98.

And if anybody tells me to download the shutdown supplement, I'm going to scream. This is Windows 98, not Windows 98SE!!!!

    Any help appreciated.

Download the shut down patch,,, Now that thats out of the way.

Have you tried checking the display adapters in safe mode, sometimes it might load the same one 2 or 3 times, removing all and reboot, its worked for me on a few win98 machines..

    DOWNLOAD THE SHUTDOWN PATCH AGAIN!

Reinstall the video Card and update the drivers if possible.
Or test it with a different video card.
