    Gaming Keyboard

Is there a keyboard that's better for gaming than others? I mean in response time nd overall gaming use (PC gaming). Anyone have any suggestions?

    Get this:

    Or even this one:

I've used both (with Quake 3, Descent 3, ...all sorts of games - especially FPS) and will not use anything else anymore.

Ask inept how he likes his.

I was looking for the whole shebang. Saitek has one I was looking at but the overall thing I'm wondering about is the difference between a normal keyboard and a "gaming" keyboard.

I'm looking for a dofferent keyboard for my gaming machine and was wondering what the heck the difference is between say a normal logitech or microsoft keyboard and others marked for gaming.

The backlighting on this would make it very interesting for me, but as for ease of use - I'd still go with the fully programmable, ergonomic Nostromo n52.

The added keypad is a nice touch on the Saitek also.

My desk has a sliding drawer where the KB sits, so my position would be all warped if I had to depend on a KB for my gaming needs.

The reviews state the lighting is cosmetic only - it's not good for gaming in the dark. This was just an example.

There is no denying this Keyboard is just bad-*** looking, but how did it perform? I’ve been playing Call of Duty United Offensive online quite a bit lately and I had no problems with this Keyboard, late night gaming with the lights off was just awesome. I’ve also been playing through Half Life 2 and again with the lights off this Keyboard was just incredible. The keys are extremely quiet, something my wife is always yelling at me about – while she sleeps I write reviews – not good on a noisy Keyboard.

A friend of mine tried the ZBoard (www.zboard.com) apparently he loves it. I'm so used to using the normal keyboard I'm good to go with a 5 button mouse...

I am little late with the reply I know. I actually came across this post from a Google query, I was having a slight problem with FarCry and my Saitek keyboard. The keyboard was under the tree Chirstmas morning.

The backlighting feature is great. I am actually typing this in the dark (I know 8:05pm, but it is still dark), The backlighting has a three settings and is not a problem for anyone used to the the standard keyboard layout. Even for my big hands. Noise level is at a minimum as well.

It took a little getting used to at first and I was wondering if I was going to keep it. Other than a slight problem with FarCry I wouldn't use anything else.

    Two thumbs up IMO

Btw - I could never get used the n52.

I wound up getting the saitek and I like it a lot. I'm not even using the optional pad either, just the normal keys which are spaced farther apart than most keyboards (a big plus). I actually find that the backlighting makes it harder to see the keys at night and have grabbed a cheapo iluminated keyboard I can use late at night if I want.
