USB Mice (Dell) behaving badly
Hello All,
Been working on this wor a few weeks, heres the scoop:
Multiple machines all Dell GX270's:
1. Mouse will "jump" accros screen. Its in top right it will suddenly be in bottom left ect.
2. Mouse will suddenly dissapear (Turn off). It no longer listed in device manger, and the optical laser is not on. Rebooting may turn it back on. moving it to a different USB port activates hardware detection and it gets reinstalled and activated. Reseating in same USB port changes nothing, the device is not detected Moving to a differnete port is not a permenate fix, it could be fine for a day or a week.
So far machines have one or the other, or no symptoms (all use the same system image)
I have tryed:
XP Mouse drivers, Intellipoint drivers, Intel Chipset update, different Mice, Different system image.
All with no change. On the recomendation of Dell I will try monkeying wiht BIOS settings, the dell mouse drivers, and some registry hacks (anyone know any reg hacks that may affect this?)
Anyone got any other Ideas?
PS Dell has offered to replace all of hte motherboards in the affected systems, but there are just to many to be that kind of a hardware problem!
