They are getting Adam Sandler to play Burts role, and I have heard of several other comedians in this one.

Little bit more than a spained neck...
Ferguson suffered a concussion and was temporarily paralyzed below the waste when he was hit Sunday. He regained feeling and movement on his way to Bellin Hospital, where he was kept overnight.

I'm with Ya_there. Time was in football when guys like Dick Butkis, Jo Greene, Alan Page, etc got bonuses for taking people's heads off, not suspensions and fines. If you don't like violence in football, take up tennis or golf. If I am going to pay $100 for a ticket, $50 - $100 in food/beverage, $30 to park, etc I wanna see heads pop off and bodies on the field. I don't need to see fines and suspensions because some guy tackled to hard or made a knife gesture to his throat. And I don't need to see a play twice to know when an official f***ed up.
You know I paid another visit to the Patton Tank Museum at Ft. Knox, Ky. recently. They have Gen. Patton's actual football jersey and "helmet" enshrined there (among his other effects). The helmet was miniscule compared to the giant steel domes they were today. I mean, I have baseball caps thicker than that!!!

Agreed. Personally, I miss old school defensive minded football games. Today's rules in the NFL are all geared toward protecting offensive players so we'll see "exciting" high scoring games. Give me smashmouth rough and dirty defensive football anyday.
Besides, it would be hypocritical of me to bitch on Darius for that hit, considering Jack Lambert is my all time favorite player - a guy known for punching, kicking, biting, etc who lived for hurting people.

Nah, Harrison got plenty of what he gives back on him when the Pats played the Steelers. I seemed to remember Jerome Bettis tramping on him a couple of times, Dan Kreider pancaking him like a bitch, and Hines Ward drilling him on more than a few blocks. Offensive players can dish it out too. At least Steelers offensive players can.

I dunno..maybe it's being older and having 12 y.o. twin boys, but seeing some guy almost get paralyzed by some cheap shot doesn't get my rocks off.
I'm all for a good clean hit, but that's just sh!tty ball.

I got no problem with it, pain is a part of the game. The only thing I really see as being "dirty" is cut blocking, at least the way Denver linemen do it. Not only does it make it WAY easier to run block (ie, cheating), it has put several guys on IR over the years, and shortened quite a few careers.

I see nothing wrong with a defensive player diving at an offensive players knees (or any other part of the body for that matter) trying to make a play, or stop their progress. I mean, might as well play 2 hand touch or flag football if we're gonna complain about that.
With an o-line man going at a d-lineman's legs, that's entirely different. Offensive players aren't allowed to tackle defensive players, and the rules for blocking are much different. It's one thing if a OL gets position and leverage on a DL and shoves him down with his upper body, but it's something else entirely when he falls toward the DL's knees trying to knock him down. Especially since OL tend to be the biggest players in the game. A 300+ pounder falling on your knees isn't pretty.

Well, you've progressed greatly since the Roman Forum haven't you KB?
Seriously, that's alot of crap!
This is a civilized SPORT! Not a forum for death and decapitation!
That is why there are rules!
I saw the replay many times, and he definitely clotheslined him.
Precedents have been made, and another will, too.
