I am using Raptor drives Striped.
Pretty quick, but alas, I got the 37gigers and its all full.

installing a raided pair of raptors majorly improves system performance. ONce they drop to a reasonable price i plan on buying a pair for my system partition and running my ide's as mass storage.

My same issue. I want a 74 but I could get 2 160gb drives for that cost.
There is also a maxtor drive out (250gb and 16mb cache) that is reported to be the fastest 7200rpm drive ever and space may be an issue. It may be a good middle ground.
