Win98se will only boot in safe mode
I am having trouble getting my computer to fully boot. The only way I can boot is in safe mode. I have done safe mode bootloog, and it stops at ms mouse. I looked for it on my c drive and found it in 3 places:C:\winnew\system, C:\windows\systemold, C:\Programfiles\microsoft hardware\mouse. I need, I guess to copy a fresh version of msmouse, somewhere, but where does it go? I set up this computer using a Win98SE disk I purchased new..
appreciate any input.

You might consider reinstalling the operating system or at least the windows files.

Run SFC and put your CD in the drive. Replace that specific file from the CD to whatever your current Windows folder is.
Good luck.

you can't run sfc from safe mode..not if you are going to use the cd to replace the file..I think Richard1 is right..the easiest way is an overlay install of win98se
whoops..sry Doc..you are thinking quicker than I am today..

And the CD-ROM won't work in safe mode.
