Do they have a playoff yet?
No? Then I do not care. The BCS and the bowl system as a whole is a joke!

With the AP pulling out of it, we are a step closer

I agree! In fact, Pro Ball is the same joke! How can you possibly base the championship of a league on one single game, despite playoffs? Look at Basketball, Baseball, Hocky, they all have a series, not one game. The superbowl, and all the college bowls are a joke!!!

Football would not be able to work as a series. The injuries and the time between games needed to heal would not make it practical. The season is long enough as it is. If the series went to 7 games, It would be played on the 26th of March!!!!!

Yeah, that's the ticket. Instead of a super bowl, we can have a super series. What do ya_think? Best of five? Best of seven? Hey Yak, stick to pissing contests, would ya...

Let's hope so. HS football and divisions 1AA do it.
The big bowls and the BCS are the politics standing in the way.
Anyway, I have a feeling that USC's soft schedule will be their undoing when they come up against the Okies.

So make it best of three. And the "healing" is part of the game, if you lose players, tough. It's all part of the game. Without a series it not an accurate display of teh "best" team of the season. Sorry, I am not buying into it.
Besides, Basketball, 1 hour of playtime, some players will actually play over 40 minutes in a game, and the clock doesn’t continue to run for 40 seconds while you huddle. In football, 1 hour of play time in reality is normally far less then 40 minutes of actual play. Add to that 70+ guys on a team, Offense, defense and special teams...the longest a guy is actually playing is maybe 15 minutes, where some starters may only play 5 whole actual minutes in a game.
So, by comparison, the Basketball player plays harder, longer, and with more intensity, plays what, 70 games regular season, and something like 20 post season games...ooo, ouch, the poor widdle footie players, can only play 17 games and a couple play offs, and only one "super bowl".
GIVE ME A BREAK!

I am sorry, but the average wide reciever runs more in a game than a basketball player. Addidng in time outs, there is just as much rest time as there is in football. The games last about the same amount of time, but football is a 60 min timed game, while basketball is only 48. And you also forgot that in basketball the only hitting allowed by players is to the fans, in football you are getting hit by 300+ lb lineman all of the time. I hope you honestly do not buy into the argument that basketball is a more physically demanding game than football. I think ya are smarter than that.

Ok, you got me on the time, it’s been so long since I’ve watched the game I thought they were 15 minute quarters. But, you can't tell me that running a few yards more in a game makes those 2 or 3 wide receivers, and a few defenders play “harder” then they guys on an NBA lineup. Shaq runs more in one game with 30 minutes of play time then probably 90% of an entire football team will run in a NFL game. The receivers are conditioned to run those distances all the time, and should be able to play another game in two or three days. Hell, they practice usually 5 to 7 days a week, so they rarely get rest anyway. Instead of practice scrimmages, they could play game 2, 3, 4 and 5. Think of the money there is to be made, if just from that perspective alone!
Sorry man, you’re trying to tell me that Footie players are tough, I tell ya, the only thing softer then those pansies is Baseball!

I hated seeing the Hoo's get smacked on the Blue Turf yesterday. Though they are the hated "rival" of my beloved Hokies, but I actually only root against them when they are playing us.
The game tonight in Phoenix may be a good one. The hated Golden Domer's against the Beavers (rematch of the '00 Fiesta Bowl). ND may just be able to turn the tables on OSU.
Ya_Know your contention of football being in a multi-game playoff ain't going to happen. There are some sports that are tailor made for multi-game playoffs; Baseball, Hockey and Basketball to name 3, but Football ain't one of them for logistical reasons as much as anything. Plus the whole nature of football is different.
The beauty of baseball in the World Series is you can get beat 12-0 in game 2, but shake it off and take the series 4 games to 1 and everybody forgets the rout of game 2. In football yes the ultimate goal is to win the championship, as it is with any sport, but in the playoffs you gotta bring your A-game every Saturday or Sunday to win. There are no mulligans, no do overs, no we'll get back at 'em tomorrow. You got your chance mano a mano and if you get bested well cest la guerre. That's my biggest bitch with Division 1A College football. The powers that be refuse to recognize the playoff system and leave the crowning of the National Champion to the antiquated bowl system. If a National playoff is good enough for Div. 1AA, Div. 2, Div. 3 and the NAIA then by gosh it's good enough for Div. 1A. What's the only sport that the NCAA doesn't recognize as a National Champion? You guessed it...the NCAA Div.1A College Football Champion which is named by the Associated Press & the Coaches Poll. It's time to change the system.
Until then we live with the system we got, despite it's many major flaws. So if ya gotta live within the system now I say WAR darn Hokies!!! Beat the Tigers!!!
I only post using 100% recycled electrons!!!
Stay on the bomb run, boys. I'm going to get them doors open if it hair lips everybody on Bear Creek.

Oh, I see, having a perfect season all year, then one bad game in the playoff's and you're not worthy of the championship...that makes a lot of sense...
