Anyone fixed this before??
Hi,
I have a PC running Windows XP Home. In device manager the whole "Display Adapters" category is missing. There are no "Other Devices" listed, the video adapter just isn't listed at all in any shape or form. If you scan for hardware changes nothing is found. I have seen this on numerous occasions with windows XP and I have never been able to fix it without formatting and reinstalling the OS. I have tried the following on previous attempts without any result:
System Restore
Repair Install
Installed another graphics card, but OS never detects it and it's never listed in device manager.
I need to fix this without formatting as customer has lots of stuff on there that I cannot replace software wise. No enhanced graphics games will run on this machine because the Graphics card is not installed properly.
If anyone has seen this before please let me know if you managed to resolve it.
I don't have the machine at present so I'm looking for solutions I can try when I visit the machine.
Cheers
Paul

what about this and this (scroll down the page on that second link)
they seem to point to the vga drivers for the motherboard not being installed properly and they suggest reinstalling the mobo drivers, like on a VIA chipset reinstalling the Hyperion 4in1 drivers.

Thanks for the post craigmodius.
This sounds pretty much like the problems I'm having. I'll give your solutions a try and hopefully it will solve it.
Looking forward to trying out these suggestions!
Cheers
Paul
