    Smile Direct X

I need to get rid of Direct X 7 and 'downgrade' to Direct X 6.
I know i can reformat and re-install Win98 but i of course would prefer not to.. Any recommendations for uninstallers (i have seen a few) and also where would i get Direct X 6?.
    thanks!

Simple, some games won't work with the latest version of DirectX. One game that comes to mind is Mechwarrior 2:Mercenaries which I could only get to work under DirectX 6.

I don't know how to uninstall it.

However, when it comes time to load a new copy, root (i.e. manually explore) through old game CDs (sometimes even AOL cds) and any driver CDs you have laying around. You might even try a Win95 CD. Many games come with a copy of directX they need to run. There is usually a folder somewhere on the CD with a name like "DirectX" or a file with the name DXSetup.

Go to www.teakfiles.com . They have direct X uninstallers...the best is Direct X Buster. I've used it, and worked great.
