LCD screen lifespans?
Hello all,
I have just recently bought a brand new Fujistu Siemens Amilo D notebook with the 15" screen. I was wondering how long do LCD screens last on average use? I mean by average as in about 5 hours a day. Also, will not keeping the screen on the brightest help extend its life? I know there is probably a big difference between brands, sizes ect but last i heard the average lifespan was aprox 50,000 hours...does this sound about right? Thanks!

It depends on SOOOOOO many factors. For some reason, laptop screens seem to last longer than PC screens in my experience. Maybe because the panels are usually smaller. It's gonna depend on the brand like you said. I'd say 3-5 years is a reasonable estimate. It's hard to really narrow it down more than that. Outside of 5 years you're probably going to see that the picture quality worsens, you have dead pixesl or rows/columns and/or the backlight will give out.

like meatwad said, too many factors depend on the life, rest assured it wont give out too soon. I've used mine for 3 years now and no change in quality
