    Sempron at 266MHz bus speed?

Can an Socket A AMD Sempron 333MHz bus CPU be made to run at 266MHz?

Got a Soltek board here that is supposedly capable of being overclocked from 133 to 166 FSB, but I wouldn't trust it to. As Semprons seem to be cheaper than the last Athlon XPs, is it viable?

    check the manufacturer
I would assume depending on the age of the board it may not recognize the chip.
If it does then there is no reason the 333 chip cannot run at 266 although you will loose soem speed

Semprons work fine on 266, just a little slower. Used a 2200 on a repair recently replacing a burned out Athlon 1800 and all appears well. except that the chip is now identified on the splash screen as an Athlon 1206!! Customer was happy that I got the comp running again without much expense!!

This was on an old PCChips (810LMR??) board by the way....
