    Connecting a flat panel display

    Hi,

This may fall into the really dumb question category, but better to ask than blow up stuff.

I just bought a Samsung 910T flat panel display that is DVI compliant. Looking at the connection graphics on their setup CD it looks as though you are to connect both the DVI and analog cables. Is this right?

BTW, I do have a DVI compliant graphics card.

Connect one or the other, not both. DVI recommended, as you have a DVI output on the video card.

    Thanks, Jeff ...

That was my feeling, too. Samsung needs to improve the skills of their tech writing staff.

The DVI connection will give you better quality picture (Digital)

The traditional analog connector is not specially designed for LCD's, DVI pretty much is.

The analog output is a digital signal converted to analog which is then converted back to digital at the monitor. The DVI output eliminates this step and therfore prevents some signal loss.
