is this cd-rw compatible with my comp?
my friend gave me his old cd-rw (phillips cdd4801/71) and i'm wondering if i can stick it in my comp (compaq s5008nx). he only gave me the cd-rw and nothing else. what am i supposed to do? oh, and it says "read operation instructions before installation." i don't have that... can anyone help me? please...?

Hi javerri,
That unit is a normal IDE CD-RW that has been known to be supplied in Compaq systems, so fitting it probably wouldn't be a problem. Is there an existing CD writer that this one would replace? If so, the burning software possibly would be specifically keyed to the original drive, and may not work with the CDD4801.
