    Rampant Piracy On Ebay

Cruising Ebay can always be fun, Often we see things that just CANT be legit.

Perfect example of this is a user called super_cool_things.

It takes Ebay up to 48 hours to review and remove a reported item,This being the case a work around for pirates is pretty simple.

List item as a 1 day/24hr listing with a buy it now only option. By the time the report hits, Items sold and email deals complete. The transaction finalizes outside paypal or ebay checkout.

Todays items being sold by super_cool_things HERE

The past 2 days his completed transactions are HERE

You may need to be logged into ebay to see these items.

Interestingly, Ive reported these to Ebay & MS several times over the past week. Yet It seems that his/her systems working.
Maybe more reports need sent by others.

You mean only legitimate sales are supposed to occur on EBAY? Come on man, EBAY is the People's pawnshop! There is so much hot merchandise on there, it's a wonder anything on there is legitimate!

Well,, we actually sell real honest stuff on ebay,100% positive feedbacks also.
I guess I just get offended by these guys doing this and giving the honest people a bad name so to speak.

What really bothers me the most is the fact that even reporting this crap doesnt stop them any more.

Ebay is way out of hand. There are soooooo many scammers and so many people selling obviously stolen stuff that I can't stand to use ebay anymore.

You'd think with the billions of dollars that ebay rakes in off commissions that they would be required to do something about it, but I guess it's easier not to.

That's my point about the "People's Pawn Shop". A local Pawn shop requires you to show identification when you sell something, and they record everything from DL number, to SNs of the Product, so if the Police walk in one day looking for a specific thing, perhaps a reported stolen gun, or some jewelry, or some top dollar speakers, they will have a much better chance of finding you. I believe the shops are required by some state laws to accommodate this.

But when you go on EBAY, the sale is between the individuals; EBAY simply provides the virtual auction block. They are technically removed from validating that sales are legit. It would be impossible to do things like run serial numbers of merchandise, and other efforts, not with the current model anyway, hence, it’s the perfect fence. If you have happy buyers, and even happier sellers, the illegal activity will remain.

    I'll tell you something worse!

My wifes friend knows her sisters E-Bay username and sometimes logs in to see what she's selling. This week she found out that her sister is selling the presents she gave to the sister, her husband and the kids too! All of it. She's mightily f***ed off and intends to bid on all the items and win them.

Next Christmas she's going to give her sister e-bay links to what she was going to buy!! Sweeet.

    Hi there,

*lol* Ebay is full of crap these days, especially bootlegged Anime DVDs. EBay doesn't do a crap about it, even they do make commission on every sale, along with those fees on each of them, even they know those items are 100% illegal and pure piracy! The awsner I got is they aren't listed in their anti-privary policies or some crap like that. Beware!
