HDTV playback Stuttering
hey all...
i'm dowloading from time to time video trailers in HDTV format, generally from microsoft or from divx.com in 1080p or 720p.
the divx HTDV videos are all in 720p and mp3 stereo and plays fine (as far as i could tell).
the WMV HDTV videos are in 1080p/720p with WMA 5.1 24 Bit and stutters of course...
i did find a clip from nVidia in 720p and WMA stereo 16Bit but it does too stutter..
i usually play videos with windows media player but other players didn't help
(Media player classic didn't help..)
INTEL D850MV
Pentium 4 1.6GHz with 512MB RDRAM
nVidia Geforce 4 MX 64MB
any thoughts ??

Geezer
Lack of 'correct' CODECs ?
Methinks try getting yourself the K lite mega codec pack & use the 'gspot utility' (in quotes for obvious reasons ! ) to find if you have the original encoding codec installed or not, quite often you've got one installed that 'can play it anyway' but just not very well ..
& its worth adding that there's some very complicated 'stuff' going on with all of this encoding/re-encoding/switching formats whatnot & I think no matter how well you set things up, some things will still stutter etc regardless - getting this as low as you can get, is sometimes the best you can achieve as drivers, directx, sustainable bus transfers, essential background tasks etc etc can all have an effect

i run my tests with minimum processed as possible.
as for codecs..
well SP2 is installed..
WMP10 is installed and "winwows media format runtime" update that i was prompt to install right after installing WMP10.
i do believe i have the right codec as i a, using a microsoft player to play a microsoft codec.
as for gspot v2.521...though it is for avi videos i gave it a shot - it does not try to recognize the codec and only gives mr the option to try to render the file and it says file render ok - it even plays the file ...but stutters non the less.
