Look at it from a business standpoint. Advertising pays for this site. Guests come here and post a question. Techs answer the question, (for free), more guests, more questions, more revenue. It would make sense to have as many knowledgeable techs here as possible. Have a lounge where techs can "cut loose", chat, whatever. The last thing you would want to do is run them off. If they want to measure their participatiion, i.e. post count, who cares? They should be doing as much as possible to keep people here.
