    Question PCI soundblaster live ct4870

Not sure this is the right place to ask this question but since the heart is a new motherboard it may well be. We installed a new motherboard in a friends puter. Everyhing went fairly well, as well as can be expected for first time and cluge parts, Now the system is up running win2kSP4 all driver seem to be doing fine except the sound card. The drivers I downloaded from the packard bell update site and don't thing they are the problem. I tried to run everest to verify things and it locked up while reading pci data. Same for aida and the install on the drivers. I am not sure where to start on this at this point so looking for guidance. The motherboard I believe is the athelon x71. Recommendations?

More and clearer info please. This is a Packard Bell computer. What brand and model new motherboard did you install? Did you do a repair install of W2K? Download drivers from Creatives site for that sound card. An other exclamation points in devicemanager? Did you install the motherboard drivers??

Hi guess I was not clear I am kind of a novice at this as this is the first we built from parts toally. My friends gateway PS died taking the MB with it. We are building this from parts. The MB is a gigabyte GA-71XE with a PIII processor and the components from the old gateway. Things to date have gone fairly well to this point. The system is up and appears stable running W2k. The problem began when I started to run everest to look at all the components. It froze looking at PCI data, same result with aida. I downloaded the drivers for the sound card which is the only driver showing bad on hardware manager. It locked up when starting the install wizard. I am not sure what the next step is.
