Post Can't save .jpgs or .gifs in I.E. 5.5

    Hi folks.

Had a customer come in today asking why his Internet Explorer all of a sudden only gave him the option to save .jpgs or .gifs as .bmp files.

"Damn, I don't know so let's see what you're on about"

I sat down at my demo machine flashed up I.E.5.5 rt. clicked on a .jpg, selected save picture as and "what the heck" it only gives me the option .bmp. I then went to my other machine and tried the same thing - no problem I could save .jpgs and .gifs. I called my other store and they tried it on five different machines all are OK. Both systems at home are OK.

I've been through all the options in I.E.5.5 and have looked through the registry and even some .ini files. and can't find anything amiss, though I'm not really sure what to look for.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.
What I know about computers would fill volumes - what I don't know would fill a wharehouse.

Sorry, was a little late when I posted that.

I have seen in the past that when internet cache becomes huge with IE it will start doing things like not allowing gifs to be saved or not being able to view source of a page. Just strange little quarks.

Be sure you tell the customer to periodically clean out the cache. It is helpful anyways.

Or just have the customer change the default size of the cache. I mean 10% was almost overkill when drives were only 1 gig. And now with 40, 60 and 80 gig monsters the default size is still 10%. Have them change it to 2-3% max (or set it to what ever. Mine is set to 1 meg)
