Pc will not boot with PCI card in
I have a client that has a computer that wouldn't boot, after looking into it some more I found that the modem was fried. (visible damage) The weird thing about it is, with all pci cards out the computer will boot and run fine but when I put in any type of pci card the computer will not even post. My client said they had some problems with the phone lines but didn’t know exactly what. My question is have any of you seen a PCI controller go bad like this?

I have seen it. It took a while to figure it out. I had to dust off the old post card to figure it out.

It sounds like your board is toast!
If you dont have a POST card, are you using the card you took off the board (try a new card) that wasn't in there when the problem happend. The last thing you can try, try to FLASH the BIOS and see if that corrects it, if not, the board is gone.

I'll take your post card also
I have one but, wouldn't mind having a back up
They are a life saver, if you know what to do with them
