Driver for a very old Opti 82C933 Sound Card

I have a friend who upgraded a Pentium 2 PC to Windows XP.

I know, I know, he's crazy, but he doesn't have money to buy a new one yet.

Anyway, the problem is, he has an ISA sound card called Opti 82C933 which is not recognized by XP.

Does anyone know where I can find the driver for this?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Short answer: He's out of luck. Spend $15 for a PCI sound card.
Long answer: Opti was a audio chipset manufacturer. They never offered driver support to begin with. They sold that business in 1997 to Ectiva, which is/was a division of Creative. Creative driver support is teh suck. Nobody ever developed new drivers for this dinosaur. Go spend $15 for a PCI sound card.

    Agreed Opti is dead
    Find a 15 dollar PCI CMI 8738
Stay away from creative in his application

I also told him to buy a new sound card, but gave it a try anyway, knowing that if there was a driver out there, you guys can find it.

    Thanks for the advise.

I freely admit I have absolutely no idea what Temp's post meant, but at my age no one expects more. Actually, from some online vendors like newegg, you can get a decent sound card for $10 including shipping. Opti's were outstanding sound chips in their day, but the worst product you can get now is far better.

The other option is to find a recycling shop and buy an ISA SB16, AW32, or AW64. Don't pay more than $5.00.

The C Media chipset sound cards are great. They sound great. But I suspect that they might put a little drag on the processor in the PII.
