[RESOLVED] Cable Modems and Win98
Hello. I ordered a cable modem and person on the phone asked me what OS I had. I said Win95 but I'm going to upgrade to Win98 before I get a cable modem. She told me that Win98 has problems with cable modems. The cable modem I will use still uses a phone line for the upstream. Anybody have a cable modem and Win98? Any problems with the TCP/IP settings? Thanks. Sam

I've installed several network cards for customers who were getting cable modems and had No problems with Win 98 and cable modem.
Our cable company out here in Las Vegas recommends the 3Com card with their set up.

the only problem i've seen, and am having now, is that if i use my online banking software, i have to restart my computer before i can use the internet again. otherwise my browser pops up with the message that it cannot find the server. i had no problem with using my modem. this is also happening on my friends machine. any ideas? can get really inconvenient. i have noticed that i can use ftp and icq, anything but my browser if i use the banking software.

I have been told but not seen that the first release of Win98 had some problems with them but if you get 98 SE the glitches have been fixed.
Good Luck
