    Angry Newbie needs help:GeForce5700le drivers

I hope I have enough info to relate to my problem. I have a budget Systemax PC, unknown brand M/B,WinXP OS,Intel Celeron, 768MB DDR RAM,
19 GB free Mem, GeForce 5700Le 256MB Graphic card, installed with the driver disc supplied w/ card. I downloaded what I thought was an update from Inno3D, and saved it to program files, but to no avail.
My isue is that now, the curser*(sp.) jumps when I move my mouse, and the
screen freezes then releases when I try to play games. . .ie:Colin McRae Rally, etc.,nothing like Doom or Halo tried yet. I do not wish to try a Beta prog. if there are alternative solutions. Do I need to move up in processors?
Is the celeron too slow? I also am getting buzzing noises sometimes from my speakersC Media AC97 audio).
I have had a few Stop errors/Blue scrn crashes too-points to driver problems
    (nVidia): Stop:0X0000008E
Does someone have a remedy? Thnx 4 any input. Stumped. . .
Is it worth Overclocking this card? Or is the Celeron holding me back?

    Welcome to the forums

    First

Uninstall any existing graphics drivers. To do this, go to Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs. Select the 'Nvidia Drivers' (or similar) item if available and click the Change/Remove button. Follow the prompts from there to uninstall your existing Nvidia drivers, and reboot as prompted. If you happen to have any other graphics drivers left over from previous hardware, such as ATI graphics drivers, uninstall them from here as well.

    2. When you reboot, you will find Windows XP will detect your graphics card as one (or more) new devices. It will then attempt to find appropriate drivers for your card. Cancel out of all such attempts.

Second: Download and install these drivers

    Unhappy Newbie: still have issues.

Thanks Tech Z for your input. I still have issues unresolved:
I downloaded the file you stated, and I still have jumpy screens with my Rally car games. Now I also have a very small font when I bring up IE Expl. web sites. I can barely read them. My windows screens are normal@1024x768 res.
The new software didn't seem to fix my orig. probl.
Do you think that my celeron chip is limiting my performance? 2.0 GHz
I thought my vid card was 256MB, but it is 128MB.
My motherboard is P4M 266 . that is the best I could find out from Tech support @ Systemax. El cheapo, I know.
Any recommendations would still be appreciated. Thnx again.

OK, for small fonts on a monitor, check Display Properties-->Appearance-->Set font Size to normal, and in IE go to View-->Text Size, and choose whats best for you.

Also have you installed DirectX9.0C? http://download.microsoft.com/downlo..._9c_redist.exe

Check that your refresh rate is @ a decent rate (minimum 75, higher better, 85 is great for a 17")

If your 5700 has a fan, check that its working properly, also the rest of the case fans.

The Celeron is holding the pc back definately. If its been a while since you last reformated your pc, and loaded xp, etc, you might consider it.
or else, defragment your HD, clean your pc from all spyware, scan for viruses, clean temp files.

    Cool Newbie learning:

I just restored PC back to factory specs 6 days ago. Re-installed XP, with SP 2, and all necessary prog. without extras, so as to locate the prob I am having more accurately. I do have DirectX9.0, and am still considering a M/B upgrade.
Wish I had Pentium 4. I am running Norton, Web Sweeper, and Spy Catcher, and think they, combined, are keeping out spyware. I also run two cleaning utilities:Window washer 5, and History sweep, which delete unecessary files whenever I close browsers and shut down windows. I try to keep things pretty uncluttered.
Is refresh rate the Hz of my video output? Mine is set at 60Hz. I have a plug and play CRT 17" monitor.
I have yet to get blue stop screen since downloading the driver you suggested. And for that thank you. I'll be working on the refresh rate, and be looking for a good M/B w/ pentium 4.
Thanks for helping me out, I do appreciate your time in responding to my request. And thank goodness for sites like this for people like me. . .
