The Pope
Well some reports from the vatican have the pope as being dead, other reports have him nearing death. This will change the world in not so subtle ways.
The poor man, I really think they have kept him alive long enough, time to allow him the peace he deserves.

He really hasn't been well in a long while. Still no cure for old age. He is 85. I don't even know how they pick the next Pope. Is there already a successor waiting in the wings?

No, the College of Cardinals all get locked into a house and talk until they all decide on a new Pope. (Don't know if it's unanimous, majority, or what though). Anytime they take a vote they burn the ballots. If they don't get a new pope they soak em and throw em on so it makes black smoke. If they finally agree they burn em dry and it makes white smoke. Or somethin like that.
What's really interesting is that technically they can elect anyone Pope. They don't have to be a bishop, a priest, or anything. Of course that's pretty much never gonna happen.
General Darksteel, fascist dictator, socially inept and clueless demagouge, and one man army of the L.U.R.K.

It's a for sure thing now. The Pope John Paul II is no longer with us.
He is respected for being a man of peace.
