Post Task Scheduler Will Not Start Up

In order for me to use Automatic Live Update in Norton, Windows Task Scheduler must start up. I see the icon for this in My Computer and I have seen it flash by the system tray but it does not remain there. I have gone to Run>MSCONFIG and I see "taskmon.exe" which I assume is for Task Scheduler and it is checked.

What can I do to get his to start up?

    Thanks!

    Jeff

I've never used task scheduler, but I think you also need mstask.exe in your startup.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I see mstask.exe and the box is checked.

    Any more ideas?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Open mstask, click on Add a Scheduled Task, browse for the live update .exe file you want to run, the wizard should walk you through the rest.

Again, I've never used it before, so I don't that it works...

Thanks craigmodius for the help and the link to the post with the Microsoft KB article. Two things I usually do before posting are to search Microsoft’s KB and the forum FIRST before posting. I guess I was in a hurry.

The knowledge base article solved the problem! Task Scheduler will NOT start if your drive has the same name as the folder Windows is installed in which was my problem exactly. What a strange and quirky twist!

Thanks again for all the help,

    Jeff
