Ghosted Word Icons
I have a client that has ghosted out word icons on their desktop, as if the file is in use. They are there only sometimes after he closes a file and then even after a reboot, he is not able to access these files correctly? He is running Office 2002. Thanks for the help.

I'm sorry....but I have no idea what your talking about.
Could you you give us a more detailed account of the problem?

This does not happen every time, but occassionally when this person opens a Word file, modifies it, saves it, and then closes Word, there is an icon on the desktop that looks similar to the "file in use" ghosted out icon. When he tries to open the file again, it gives him a bunch of "characters", but the file is not readable anymore. The icons have a ~$ and then a partial filename. It looks as if the original document is already on his desktop as well. I hope this helps??? Thanks.

This sounds like the temporary and original file being saved on the desktop. The temporary file can be safely deleted as far as i am aware. I'd suggest saving in My Documents - these temporary files are usually hidden. Worth putting on ccleaner [free download] and setting to automatically clean machine?
