Win 98SE install problem.
While trying to install Win 98SE on a Gateway Select 750 Box, I get this message. windows protection error. You need to restart your computer.
When i reboot and choose Safe Mode I get this message...
While initilizing device VDMAD:
windows protection error. You need to restart your computer.
This is shown after the os is loaded, and the box is rebooted for the first time.
I have tried a different vid card, and also another hard drive, still the same thing.
The only othe thing out of the ordinary, while setting up was a message about a compressed volume on the computer when i used fdisk to set up the hard drive. Whould that be a bios issue? because I know the hard drives i am usng are clean.
Thanks for any help.
