    Smile quiksilver2

I recently bought a socket a motherboard of the Internet. When it arrived it was a quiksilver 2 compaq replacement. I can tell it has a via chipset and identify most of the jumpers. A little big question about a panel connectors. It seems to support the the 200- 266 DDR RAM and I am hoping I can get my sempron processor to work on. It is a 2200 plus. if anyone knows anything about his board or its layout please reply to this thread. As there is no manufacturer support site to be found for this item. Thank you happy computing, John R.

If you did some search at these (and another) forums, you could find that motherboard is in fact made by FIC ( www.fica.com ). It can be useless, though as it is an OEM motherboard and thus, supported only by Compaq, not by the manuafacturer... Although information regarding that board still can be found at Compaq/HP's site (you will need part#) I'll have to dissappoint you regarding Sempron CPU. That MB does not support 333Mhz FSB, which is needed for proper support of Semprons CPUs and I'm very doubtful Compaq ever made the BIOS update for supporting Sempron microcode for that motherboard... At best, it may work at lower 266Mhz FSB, but with some glitches...

What were you thinking? Buying computer components off EBay is always a bad idea unless you really know EXACTLY what you need. Trying to save $10 will generally cost you $100. Find a reputable shop in your area and do business with them. In the long run you'll save hundreds of dollars in time and frustration.
