Any modems in my computer, wont connect to the net without the snes emulator zsnes running in the background or there is music playing. I think it might have something to do with the voice modem wave serial device, or my s-card, i have a Yamaha DS-XG, amd 450, tnt2 m64, 160megs ram, GA 5AA Gigabyte mobo. So if anyone can fix this or find out whats doin it your the smartest person on this earth.

What is your Operating System?
I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.

If that "voice modem wave" thing is one of those Audio/Modem combos, that's it. Since both your aforementioned programs need the audio function, that's what's "activating" the card and apparently you wanting to dial up to the Internet isn't.
What can I suggest, knowing those things are a pain in the a$$, go out and buy a $10 modem. as a matter of fact, Compusa is offering a free modem after mail in rebate this week.

Sounds like na modem is the wrong IRQ. I had a modem that would work as long as you kept moving the mouse. Yes the modem was set for IRQ 4 in Windows but the modem jumper was on IRQ 3.The mouse irq faked windows out.
I know so much less than I did when I was 4!

just for arguments sake, remove the sounds card and see wether ur modem will connect, as some one has already said, it could be a conflict.
hope it helps.

Agreed..but Internal hardware modems are OK too, just make sure it's an internal HARDWARE modem as opposed to a Winmodem.

if your are using your PS2 or USB (almost forgot that baby) ports for mouse try disabling your COM ports via the bios, thus freeing up some board resources and then reconfigure the modem to com1 irq 4/3F8, and see if that helps.
Good Luck
