    Internet Safety

Is there a benefit to getting track eraser and anonymous surfing internet security software like GhostSurf Platinum ? Is it really worth the money and do they provide adequate protection?

It has some good reviews at tucows and pc mag... depends what you need? Some sites won't work with anonymous settings.

As to your last question - define "worth" and define "adequate"

One person's adequate is another's useless.

I think it also depends on what kind of content you view, anonymous browsing doesnt do me any good I suppose, but then it might for some. A good firewall on the other hand, is what everyone who uses the internet should have.

Right - the benefit is going to be if you really need to cover your tracks for some reason.

Or you may just be a firm believer in keeping your own business private ?

..Prevent identity theft, advanced phishing and pharming ..
(knicked from a bit of advertising for a similar thing) - is true !

But anonymous surfing is like dvd recorders, you can use it/them legally or then again it might be very handy for mischief !

All of my computers that have Internet connections are behind both hardware firewalls (my routers) and software firewalls (Norton), so I have to say YES. These days you just can't overdo security. My only gripe about SpyCatcher is that it wants to remove too many important files that it can't identify. When in doubt, let the unknown files be, otherwise you may end up with a non-functional system.
