My guess is you have spyware, so I am moving this over to a more appropriate forum.

btw - take a look at this thread, lots of good spyware info there.

Also, are you running Service Pack2 for Windows XP? - If so, it adds a popup blocker to IE6.

I got it fixed well, I had to reinstall windows. I really don't know if I have service pack2 ? I'm a dummie!! when it comes to computers.. Do I need to download it? How do I check to see if I have it are not? My computer is like 3 year old so I probably don't have it.

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System ->General. If you have Service Pack 2, it must be written there. If no, you should install it from the windows site using automatic updates, you should also install all the other necessary updates, and they give your system much more security. In the future instead of completely reinstalling windows, I would recommend you to use an antyspyware-adware program, for example I use Acronis Privacy Expert and haven't had any such problems for a long time now.

Then go to Steve Gibson's site and download his freeware 'Shoot the Messenger' -

    http://www.grc.com/stm/shootthemessenger.htm

Once you've done that, then either move to the Firefox browser -

    http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

or, if you want to hang onto all your IE settings, can't see the point of having two browsers on your machine and still have to maintain IE for security reasons and want to download a product at a fraction of the size of Firefox, then go to the Maxthon browser (essentially an IE skin or plug-in) -

    http://www.maxthon.com/

Both these browsers have efficient popup blockers and you can enable ad-blocking, too.
