    Question Win 98 Format Flopies error

    ihave customers machine that will not reconize data on floppies ,I switched out drives and cables and looked at the BIOS to make sure it was set to 1.44 3 1/2 and it was.The disks are good and the data is valid.If I stick a known good disk in windows asks"This floppy is not formatted do you want to format now?" Or to that extent. Am I over looking the obvious or possibley a Virus? <IMG SRC="smilies/confused.gif" border="0"> Thanks

    Maybe the FDD controller on the motherboard got zapped...

    That would suck! ,replace a whole MOBO for a damn floppy. OUCH !

    Another option might be installing an I/O board with a floppy controller, but then you lose an expansion slot.
