    Post should I upgrade or not?

    Hi:am running right now win 98 first editions
    and IE 5.01 Sp1 .
    is it a Good ideas to get the IE5.5 or not?
    on the other Hand I do have directx 7.0 should I upgraded till 8.0a or not?

    I wouldn't upgrade. i have win98 also, and can do what i need. i did upgrade to internet explorer 6.0. it does speed up the browsing a little bit. i recommend goin to 5.5.

    I like running 5.5 more security features added, less on being hacked

    MacGyver is right.As far as 5.5 it is okay,stay away from directX 8,I have been seeing issues there.

    I run Win98 1st Ed on my PC at home, and have had some bizarre problems after I upgraded to IE 5.5. Honestly, I would stick with IE 5.01. Like some others have said, if it's not broke, don't fix it.

    As for DirectX 8, I have had no problems with that on mine or my wife's PC. Also seemed to give games a noticable boost in performance... just make sure you have updated drivers for all of your hardware to support DX8.
