    Question Too old machine-too big problem !?

    Hello,

    I have compaq armada 1530D,and i have crazy problem with graphics to.
    I am install Win98 SE ,and only have 256 colur !?
    That notebook use Cirrus Logic GD 7548 video chip,and I know that before 5 years many people had the same problems with that or another cirrus logic video chip-drivers.

    Did somebody solve that problem ,and how ?
    Compaq armada 1530D with install Win 98 SE have only 256 colour –HOW TO FIX IT ?


    I know that is now too old machine , but that armada 1530D is like brand new,and i want to use it for some measure in my electronics lab.

    hi

    Have you got the right drivers installed? you may not and therefore you will have to find them and install them and then you will be able to have more than 256 colors if it supports it! I will say though I have worked on a few Compact pc's(older ones) and my opinion of them is not high. Had the same problem you are having but I went to compacts web site and found the drivers there. Have you tried this yet?

    compaq armada 1530 driver page does not have a video driver, therefore compaq expects windows to use a native driver. here is the 95 driver - it might help.

    A little digging around google shows what the card is capable of... not much. If you have your screen set to 800x600 you will only get 256 colours. Set it to 640x480 for 16bit colour.

    Thanks for answers !

    I'm installed many types of official CL GD 7548 PCI driver,but without any result to have more colour than 256 at 640x480,and 800x600.
    I herad that someone done 800x600x16 bits colour on that ,or the same type of armada like 1520D,or 1585...

    Hi,i found the answer!Problem was that i have wrong informations about that kind of LCD-panel-display.That type of armada has not display which can works at more than 256 colors,neither at 640x480 .Only max. 256 colors at any sistem ....
