    SIS 7012 Audio Driver

    Hiya,
Im having a huge problem Installing my audio Driver.
I have identified my Sound Card as a SIS 7012, and am now trying to install it on my Win XP os.

I read through the Readme wich states thet I should:
"...please run SETUP.EXE in this directory;"
And then it skips the whole *directory* part.

I tried doing it from my Desktop (and anywhere else I could think of) and I always get the same error:
    1st: "Error: -536870390"
2nd: "Fail to Install audio driver for Windows XP. Setup will exit."

Ive seen a few similear posts here, but none that gives me any good answers...
If you could please help me, it'd be great.
Thanks for taking the time to read this far,
    -Morrinn

Place them where you can find them.. eg c:\sound

Double click the downloaded file, a wizard should start. If it just unpacks the files, find out where it unpacked them too, then look in there for a setup.exe. If there is one, double click it - another wizard to install the drivers should start.

Failing that you unpack the files to somewhere you can find - eg c:\sound\unzipped then you go to control panel and add new hardware. When the add new hardware wizard asks for the drivers, browse to the c:\sound\unzipped folder.

I have no problem extracting files from the Zip folder, Its that it doesnt contain any Installation Application.
All it contains is an Uninstaller, A Security catalog, Setup information and a system file called: SIS7018.SYS

Thats all thats in the Zip file I got from the link above :P

    Cool

You could install them like NooNoo says or download the link below and tell us what is your make and model of your motherboard.

    Right....

Using Everest selecting *motherboard* I get these 2 lines Im not sure what to make of:
    Motherboard ID: 62-0621-009999-00101111-040201-SiS648$1SIS648_A6585SV2 V1.1 06212003
    Motherboard name: Unknown

Besides that, I used the Add New Hardware and finally managed to Install the SiS 7012 Driver. Right now the Driver status is:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

    Which kinda sucks :รพ

It looks like link to all kinds of info, manuals, BIOS updates and drivers for the 648 Max mobo which seems to be reference by your ID SiS648.

The audio drivers are from Realtek tho which most of the other drivers are SiS.

If you're convinced that you've got SiS Audio, go here:
    http://www.sis.com/download/

Let us know how it ends up. Good Luck!

Hum... there seems to have been a driver installed before...
Legacy Audio Driver, and I think I need to Uninstall that driver in order for the SiS 7012 one to work...

Only problem is I cant seem to Disable or Uninstall it from Computer Management.
    Any thoughts?

Go to Device Manager. Remove any and all references to your Audio card/driver, etc.

Reboot. Let Windoze find the New Hardware. Select that you Have Disk and then Browse to the location of your downloaded files.
