Damn, another monster heading right for a major city. This is truly unprecedented if it does strike Galveston/Houston.
What/where is next? Miami proper? Tampa Bay? Jacksonville? The NHC has said these are potentially problematic areas, but at least they are above sea level, if barely. Damn.

Thanks for the update RMan. I hope he'll be alright whatever he decided. So far it looks like Houston will avoid the rougher eastern side of the storm, if it stays that way. Not looking good for Port Arthur though.

Approx 1/3rd of the US's oil refining capability is here or 'near enough' - add this onto katrina's costs & everyone will be paying, as refinery prices one place, soon hit another, & then world markets.

Very glad to see though that matters where a bit more organised this time, but still a huge mess & a lot of worry for a lot of folks, who I hope can all be evacuated safely.

btw I think the evacuation this time, is responsible for the world's largest traffic jam (he says stuggling to find a 'lighter side') over 100 miles long at one point, with fuel trucks being rolled out to top up those stranded without gas....
