My Cd-rw drive won't work properly
I Have A Dell Inspiron 8200 Laptop with Windows XP Home Edition
I use Nero 6.6 to burn and it keeps giving me a write error i tryed to turn the speed down 4 different ways it still dosent work and i also reinstalled windows and i know it's not the brand of the blanks because it used to burn everybrand i bought at 24x now it rarely completes a cd at 4x with the write error popping up.

Well, I would start with the chipset drivers. Install those, then test the cd unit again.

I Could'nt find a diagnostic test in nero but earlier i tried to burn a cd and a blue screen came up with Kernal_Data_Inpage_Error so i dis some research and was told to run something call ScanDisk Check it found a few errors and fix them then i was able to burn 3 cd's and now it doing the write error again

How full is your hard drive? Are you copying on the fly?
What is the exact message for this write error?

The Write Error Dosen't have a message I just open up Nero or the other two programs i use to burn cd's which are Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5 or Windows Media Player eveytime i put a cd in reads it just fine even if its a black it still recognizes it so know it's not the cd lens. and my harddrive has more than enough space in my opinion

Souf until you provide actual answers, rather than opinions it is very difficult to help.
What service pack level are you at with XP?
Have you done the other windows updates?
Have you read through the sticky thread at the top of this forum?
Have you tried any of the fixes there?
What media are you using - cdr or cdrw?
Exactly which brand of media are you using?
Exactly how much hard drive space have you got free?
How many burning programs do you have installed and what are they?
Is windows cd recording turned on or off?
How much cache is Nero setup to use?
Have you updated the firmware provided by dell for your drive?
Please answer ALL these questions - if you do not, I will not be able to help.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
