suggestions for solving printing from IE

computer is run of mill XP professional, with all drivers and updates. printer is samsung ml4500 laser.

multi - page documents created or saved that don't come through IE print fine. graphical pages print fine.

single pages viewed and printed in IE print fine.

multi-pages in IE crash and reboot the pc!

the example site the client went on was companieshouse.gov.uk. trying to print single pages is fine. multi-pages (such as those on the "directors responsibilities", by cliicking the print button, crash the pc.

i tried reinstalling the drivers. windows update say there are no new drivers to be applied.

    any suggestions?

dumb as this sounds, you say the print button - I assume the large print icon? Does it behave differently if you click file, print?

no, sorry, the icon is the same as file/print.... but if you print a normal doc from say "word", its ok.

    wierd!

right, after a while, i managed to find and download the setupwbv.dll file and finally managed to get it onto the offending pc; in the hope that a repair would sort the problem.

lo and behold; ran the damn thing and found ALL the options (i.e. repair, reinstall, remove) were NOT selectable. Two buttons cancel and ok, both exit the program. i assume there is something i am missing/have not done now?

ggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! no wonder i got out of IT support

btw noo noo cannot do the IE repair thing via control panel because ie is not listed as a program!

It's in windows components, not the first page (3rd button down if memory serves).

I wonder if you haven't got a stray bho in there somewhere - get bhodaemon and a hijack this check may give you some more clues.

Failing that an repair install of the entire OS sounds like a quicker option.
