TCP/IP Stack Corrupted
I have a user that is running Windows XP Pro with all the latest patches and updates. I have already run for spyware using ad-aware and Spybot. When he logs into Windows, he is receiving this error message:
TCP/IP Stack Corrupted
Press Yes to fix it.
Basically, I have downloaded this utility
WinsockXPFix.exe. I ran it and did not fix the issue.
I have also used the 'netsh' command but did not fix the issue. I have done some google searches which turn up using WinsockXPFix.exe. This is an Executive laptop and really need to fix this issue asap. anyone have any other ideas?
I think the problem is either an ID10T or PEBCAK error

Hey Todo, you might want to try this: http://forums.devshed.com/archive/t-...pt-TCPIP-Stack, and see if any of these suggestions help. Good luck.

Thanks for the link. I tried everything they suggested and unfortunately it did not fix the problem. this is becoming quite a problem. You can use the laptop, internet, etc. but when the user boots and logs into windows that same error message pops up. Anyone have any other ideas. any google searches come up with the same result, but I have tried all these, so am looking for other things to try. Thanks!

Geezer
Perhaps this ?
Reinstall of the TCP/IP protocol to restore Winsock functionality
Step 1: Delete the WINSOCK registry keys
START | RUN | REGEDIT
Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Winsock
Delete the Key
Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Winsock2
Delete the Key
Reboot your machine (Do not skip this step).
Step 2: Install TCP/IP on top of itself
START | RUN | NCPA.CPL
Right click on the Network Connection
Select Properties
Click Install
Click Protocol
Click Add
Click Have Disk
Type the path to the nettcpip.inf file, for example: c:\windows\inf,
Click OK
You should now see "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" in the list of available protocols.
Select TCP/IP
Click OK.
Restart the computer
NOTE: third-party proxy software or firewalls may need to be reinstalled
It'd be an awful lot simpler though if they'd made TCP/IP 'uninstallable'
