Alcatel speedtouch home adsl modem alternative
My ISP only offers the Alcatel speedtouch adsl modem, does anyone know if one of the newer zoom adsl modems would work instead?

Unless they require some specific software to be used in conjunction with the modem, I would say that any ADSL complaint modem should do the job for you.

Tip: Get a modem/router then you do not have to have a machine on which behaves as a router to enable other machines in your house to access the internet.

Oh I was thinking about getting a Zoom ADSL modem then hooking it up via Cat5e to the metioned in another infamous thread Netgear wireless router.
And no I don't think they (local isp) has any specific software that needs to be used. I would rather use the Zoom modem over the Alcatel's security problems.
