Video Capture Device for 3.5" Drive Bay

I am looking for a Video Capture Device that will fit into a 3.5 inch bay that includes analog inputs such as RCA and S-Video as well as firewire. I have found many that fit into a 5.25 inch bay. The problem is the school I work for bought some Dell GX620 Desktops (instead of the towers like I recommended) and all they have open is the 3.5 drive bay (there is no floppy drive).

no firewire but didn't the dells come with firewire?

Thought about a usb attached box? Then you could go for just a firewire/usb 3.5 bay...? OK, being a school you will have to bolt it to something... but that's got to be easier than folding a 5.25 capture device in half

yeah, looks like we are going to have to do something like that. Thats why I wanted to use an internal box because we will have the machines locked and it would look nicer, but oh well. Well my stupid boss forgot to add the firewire card like I asked when the machines were ordered. He never listens to his tech staff. Thanks for the reply

You would think, but he continues to waste money and time. We have a group of people on the technology committee and surprisingly its all teachers and Administrative staff. Not one tech. I work at the district office and I am the Senior Network Tech so the only tech above me is the Network Manager and I think at least one of us should be involved in the committee. Instead they all get together and think of these lame brained ideas that never work and we spend countless hours making them work. Its very sad actually. Our opinion never counts, but when it doesn't work or breaks its our fault.
Just to show you stupid my boss is the other day he was recording the White Sox ralley on his TV-Wonder capture card and saving it on Networked storage and it ran out of space and nearly crashed the server. Then he had the audacity to ask me to make a DVD video out of it for him. I wanted to say isn't there better things to do on work time. I mean he has a TiVo at home he could of done it later on his own time.

yep, Its a Local High School district with 3 big High Schools. Our tax dollars at work. A few of us are trying to change somethings and have been semi-successful. Us techs try to conserve money and time where we can without taking it out of our own pockets. If our Adminstration staff had a clue, we would be OK, but they do not have any idea on how IT should be run. What also hurts us is we have old library and teachers aides on our tech staff with no technology background. They are more of a hinderance than helpful. Some do not know the basics of computing like installing software or printers. The few of us that know what is going on are trying to find ways to force the useless people out, but they are protected by a union which unfortunately has just created lazy people who feel they cannot be fired. We have given them hours and hours of training on the network and how to do their jobs, but they just do not get it. Oh well, you do not need to hear my problems. Thanks again.
