DVD stops recording

I did everything. Both primary and secondary were set to (DMA if available), I did not have to change anything.

OK, so now we look at the software... have you been to roxio to upgrade the software?

I did everything and it still does not work. It just ejects the DVD after recording 4% and comes up with the same error.

Yes, I have the latest update, the next update for ROXIO is to purchace there new version 8.

OK I just read about 40 other forums with your problem... the error messages crop up in Nero as well as Roxio, Linux as well as windows... it is always sudden onset and there are no instant cures that I can see.

So let's do a bit of free association work here... let's find out what does work.

Would you please do a test burn CD for data
A test burn music CD and a test burn data DVD.

I'm not sure about your version of Roxio - but I imagine it has an image writing capability... that is it writes the cd as one file (sometimes called an iso) to the hard drive. Can you repeat the tests using the image recorder or wizard and see if those are a problem too?
