MorseLady, hope things went well! No, I'm not a ham, but I worked in radio many moons ago as a disk jockey, and I was a Radio-TV-Film major in college, and so I've done a couple of FCC exams. Mostly just asking over and over how much time you could spend in jail for saying the F word on air, how much out of spec your transmitter can run before you have to shut it down, etc. Frankly, much like the MS tests in that you have to regurgitate information which has (mostly) no real world application.

For the benefit of slgrieb, I did NOT pass

I got my post test email today and the Survey which I have done and I mentioned that there was a lot of noise which distracted me and that the exam crashed halfway through - might that get me a free retake so I can use my one remaining voucher to try Server 2003 later instead of using it for my XP retake? I have had a look at the software I was given and I am sure that with the eBook and sims I can pass next time.

My lack of confidence was blocking my ability to learn, I know this because in the 1970s I left Law and trained as a Primary School Teacher specialising in Music in and we did Child Psychology and that applies to adults too as in the mantra show me the man .........! I know how much the mind can play a part in all we do but I was not able to apply what I knew because the past year has been very traumatic with moving home and other things. Doing the exam was a very valuable experience.

The exam, even if I did not pass, has unlocked my mind and even contributed to my knowledge on the subject. Whereas before I found some aspects of the MCSE/MCSA/MCP course confusing like OUs I can now look that in the eye and am very keen indeed to catch up and get on with the simulations so I can retake and pass the exam and then think about doing a Server 2003 one after which I will apply to rejoin the classes so I can get MCSA. But now I am falling into my old trap of setting myself goals too far ahead, one step at a time Ellie, one step at a time as her father said in the film Contact and I need to focus on passing the XP exam and exclude all other thoughts for now.

This seems to be the area you are most familiar with & have had least trouble conceptually over, so yup, definately one bit at a time & this looks the most likely for you to make progress with, & I genuinely do wish you better luck next time

& remember for the purpose of M$ exams, 'billy boy speak' is good & try & forget any/all other 'better ways' we might've told you (or you've sussed out yourself !) over the moons

Of course we all know Billy Boy has the brain of Einstein but it takes an alien to work out those long questions which leave you wondering just what Contoso really wanted you to do yes I had gathered that passing is as much to do with learning the M$ way as knowing your stuff. I will therefore learn the Gospel according to St.Billy
